Biography
Gelson D. Lemus, better known as W3R3ON3, is a Guatemalan-born resident of Houston, TX who began painting graffiti in the late 90's. The love for graffiti inspired him to practice and teach himself all of the skills he has obtained over the years, in order to become the successful muralist he is today. His unique style often reflects the beautiful struggles one has in life while focusing on reaching a positive outcome, or making the best of it.
Although his career started by using spray cans to do graffiti, his passion for art allowed him to thrive to become one of the best by learning how to paint in all sorts of ways and use any materials available.
Look closely, and you will notice that I sprinkle pieces of myself into my works through repetitious symbolism. I mirror myself into my work through two characters that represent me and the wisdom gained from life experiences. One of them is a three that has a mouth filled with teeth and an eyeball. The other character has a wooden spray paint tip for a head and is based off of myself. The three symbolizes a constant reminder to apply what I have learned in life, while my character shows my desire to continue striving for better. Another symbol I often use is a bubble with a heart in it that represents the things I love, desire, and dare to reach for.
