Biography
I'm Eric Karbeling, a Honolulu, HI-based artist focused on transforming environments through painting murals in my style of improvisational forms (aka squiggles) to craft colorful hypnotic imagery.
The goal of my work is to evoke a sense of joy, calm, and balance amidst chaos inviting the viewer to get lost in and find inspiration in the way the imagery comes together while forging a stronger connection with the place of the work, just as I do while creating it.
Whether I am working on a large-scale public mural or a smaller, more intimate piece, my goal is always to create something that brings a sense of wonder and escape, a place where people can get out of their heads and simply enjoy the beauty of the art.
With a background working as a UI/UX designer where everything is created within constraints to achieve a specific goal, my artwork was born as an unrestrained response with the sole goal of getting lost in creating something for pure enjoyment.
I have created art and painted murals for organizations around the US including schools, mural festivals, music festivals, professional sports teams, private clients, and charity/community projects. All stemming from the first mural I painted in my own apartment.
